Post as gaeilge

tseachtain seo caite i nGaeilge a bhí muid ag caint faoi ar an tábhacht na teanga Gaeilge agus an chaoi a bhfuil sé i roinnt bealaí a cailleadh agus ar cheann dár bhlag dúshlán an tseachtain seo bhí a scríobh post i nGaeilge mar sin is dóigh liom nasc siad le chéile nicely agus tugann sé rud éigin dom a chur ar mo bhlag nach bhfuil curtha ar fáil ar ó Eanáir!

an teanga agus an cultúr Gaelach i ndáiríre dul ar strae agus a bheith fágtha taobh thiar de. Tá gach duine a curtha faoi illusion go Gaeilge mar theanga is useless dóibh mar wont siad a bheith in ann é a úsáid in aon tír eile. faire againn físeán an tseachtain seo caite i nGaeilge mar gheall ar an ábhar agus labhair cailín amháin mar gheall ar an daonra íseal sa shes tír ó agus fós labhraíonn siad ar fad siad teanga náisiúnta toisc go bhfuil sé a gcultúr agus tá sé imprtant dóibh. Ba chóir dúinn a fheiceáil na hÉireann ar an mbealach céanna mar gheall ar thats go díreach cad é a ár gcultúr agus tá sé stair agus ba chóir a bheith tábhachtach dúinn agus ní labhairt faoi mar theanga 'marbh' mar go bhfuil sé go minic.

"Is féidir a bheith ann nach mó ná an delusion a shamhlú gur féidir le teanga a choimeád beo ina n-aonar ag teagasc"

"There can be no greater delusion than to imagine that a language can be kept alive alone by teaching"

mini company

today was the first and for some final stage of our mini company competition! since the beginning of the year most of us have been working towards our mini companies and the amount of work put into them was seen today. the competition began at 9:05 this morning an began with the judges coming around to all our stalls it seemed as if they were really interested in all of the companies they spent  good while looking at most of them.. about 50 seconds in total was spent at our stall well there wasn't much to look at i guess a few fire hazards of candles and two crappy posters made at 8:50 that morning.. besides all of that our scents we had were liked! they continued to the next stall and shortly enough after that we moved on to the next stage of the judging.. the '3 minute' pitch that  each company had to present to the judges which somehow manged to drag on from 10:30 to 2:00!! in the beginning they had it that the groups got up in-front of everyone and the judges but one problem came up and that was that the heating in the hall was too loud for us to have to speak over and the bright idea to leave off the heating didn't work either.. so there was a change of plan that we gave our three minute pitch in the library one on one with the judges which was a lot easier for us and everyone else stayed in the now defrosting hall! our pitch went well as we were the lucky few that got to do it in the library.. they announced three awards at the end and then the two groups that would be going through to the county final in march..i.protect and bambeauty these two groups really did deserve to get through

The Glebe

The past 8 weeks in the glebe have been really interesting and have really opened my eyes to the many ways of teaching. the glebe is a Montessori school that starts at nursery age and goes the whole way up to 6th, Although the structure of Montessori teaching  is completely different to mainstream primary school teaching!  I really enjoyed my work experience in the glebe, i got to take on many of the roles of a teacher like helping out in class, correcting copies supervising in the yard and one of the days i prepared a lesson for the class! Its definitely been one of my favorites of the three all the teachers and children were so nice and there was just always a lovely atmosphere around the school

Its hard to believe that Ty work experience is completely finished now. its definitely been on of the most interesting and beneficial parts of Ty! The responsibility of having to go out into the world of work and contacting different companies. Each work experience was similar, in the beginning i was really nervous going into the places and by the last week i didn't want to leave, I enjoyed having work experience and learned a lot from each of them.

F U N W A L K - 2 0 1 4

The annual fun walk was on the 2nd of october. this day two weeks ago. I thought the fun  walk would be different this year because we are in Ty and we should have plenty of time to waste which we do normally, but of course this changed when the week of our fun walk came. we only had something like 5 tutor classes the few days leading up to the fun walk but a number of different things got in the way of our tutor time like the fact that we are in the demo room and its impossible to practice a dance, so we went to the library. As we thought this would be great plenty of room to practice in but then we had to find speakers because the ones in the library aren’t connected!! After all this we thought we’d at least have the next class to practice but then when that class came more than half the class where at a talk that the rest of us had had at the start of the morning. Anyways we knew we still had a few more tutor classes so we didn’t worry. Then the following day they announced that the walk would have to be moved to Thursday because Friday’s weather wasn’t looking great... but we would have an extra class on Wednesday... Of course the day we had work experience so at this stage we all just accepted that we were going to lose... Just as things were looking hopeless we realised we still had a free double PE later that day and in that double PE we managed to learn off a whole dance!! So things were looking better! We had another tutor or two before the day so we got to finish off our dance and add the finishing touches. So Friday came and we were more optimistic than we were on Tuesday so it was a good start! Before the walk we had our opening mass which our class sang in the choir for.

We got to watch all the dances and then when it came to Ty’s we were the last to perform. After all of than we knew we had done the best we could have! We just had to wait and see who had won... And we were really surprised on Friday morning when it was announced that our class had won! We were delighted!!

Base!

two weeks ago we started our work experiences. i have a placement in base entertainment in celbridge i am really enjoying working here all the staff there have been really friendly and welcoming to me since i started. i have been given plenty of jobs to do since i started which have really given me a lot of experience in different areas like serving and being a waitress to people in the base cafe and diner..to supervising children as the play in the soft play area.yesterday when one of the members of staff asked if i would help her with a party of 25 kids! we had to serve then there food and then bring out the birthday cake to them and then cut up the cake.. some of the jobs aren't as fun as others like dating and filing sheets but its all what has to be done! i learned about stock rotation yesterday when i had to bring the stuff that had been delivered to the stores room.. we had to put the newer stock to the back and the older stock to the front.. i never realised how much work had to be done to keep a plase like base working but everyone up at base does there job really well and im looking forward to the next few week in base!
